The Sonoma sun, usually a benevolent golden weight, felt like a judgment as it beat down on Silverwood Vineyards. Dust motes danced in the air, thick and shimmering, kicked up by the relentless activity. The air thrummed with the low growl of tractors, the rhythmic clack of pruning shears, and the occasional shout from a worker. “Liam! Are you going to dither all day, or are you going to help me move these barrels?” Olivia’s voice, sharp and efficient, cut through the quiet hum of the vineyard. She stood at the entrance of the main cellar, hands on her hips, her tailored shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal strong forearms. Even caked in dust and smudged with earth, she exuded an air of elegant command.
