Before them lay not a city, but a skeletal whisper of one, sunk into the earth as if the land itself had sighed and swallowed it whole. Crumbling spires, once proud monuments to a lost civilization, now pierced the murky depths of a stagnant, emerald-green lake. Twisted metal, corroded by time and neglect, lay strewn like the bones of colossal beasts. This was the Sunken City, a place whispered about in hushed tones by those who dared to speak of it at all.
“By the gods,” Sir Kaelen muttered, his hand instinctively going to the hilt of his worn sword. His usual gruff cynicism was tinged with something akin to awe, a rare vulnerability Elara had come to cherish. “Never thought I’d see it with my own eyes.”
