The air in the Unwritten Realm hummed with an unfamiliar energy, a symphony of rustling leaves and distant, melodic calls that Aurora found both captivating and unnerving. Beside her, Blossom, her younger sister, was a whirlwind of wide-eyed wonder, her usual impish grin replaced by a look of pure, unadulterated awe. They had stumbled through the shimmering portal, leaving the musty familiarity of their attic behind for a world painted in hues Aurora had only ever seen in dreams. Towering trees, their bark like ancient, gnarled parchment, reached towards a sky the color of twilight, even though the sun, a soft, opalescent orb, hung high above. Strange, glowing flora pulsed with a gentle luminescence, casting ethereal shadows that danced and swayed like living things.

Yet, she saw the way Blossom’s eyes sparkled, the way her small body seemed to lean into the unseen melody. Blossom had always been more attuned to the world’s subtle currents, her empathy a tangible force that drew others to her. Aurora, on the other hand, was the observer, the analyst, the one who cataloged the details, piecing together the puzzle from the edges inward.
