The air in Maya’s sun-drenched kitchen felt thick with unspoken words, a familiar sensation for Elara these days. Sunlight streamed through the windowpanes, illuminating dust motes dancing in the golden shafts, each one a tiny, insignificant secret swirling in the vastness. Elara cradled her mug of lukewarm tea, the ceramic cool against her palms. She’d come to Maya for advice, as she always did, a habit ingrained from years of shared laughter and whispered confessions.
