Chapter 8
Chapter 8: Escalating Rivalry
Dohoon's jealousy reaches a boiling point. He actively competes with Shinyu and Gyuvin for Hanjin's attention, his charismatic facade crumbling to reveal a desperate, possessive need.
The air in the practice room was thick, not with the usual sweat and exertion, but with a palpable tension that clung to the walls like damp wallpaper. Hanjin moved through the choreography with his customary precision, a flawless machine. Yet, beneath the practiced smile, a subtle unease flickered. He felt it in the way Shinyu’s gaze lingered a fraction too long, a predatory stillness in the leader’s eyes that had become a constant, unsettling presence. It was in the way Dohoon’s laughter, usually a bright, infectious sound, now held a sharp, competitive edge whenever Hanjin so much as glanced in Gyuvin’s direction.
Gyuvin, bless his unsuspecting heart, was oblivious. He beamed at Hanjin, a pure, uncomplicated affection radiating from him that Hanjin had initially found so… convenient. Now, it felt like a fragile shield, a testament to Hanjin’s own deceptive artistry. But the cracks were starting to show, not just in Hanjin’s carefully constructed composure, but in the polished surface of their group’s harmony.
“Again from the bridge,” Shinyu’s voice, usually a steady anchor, was tight. He didn’t look at Hanjin, his focus fixed on some invisible point beyond the mirror. Hanjin felt a familiar prickle of irritation. Shinyu’s discipline, once a source of admiration, was now a suffocating blanket of expectation. It was the same expectation that had led to the first confession, the one Hanjin had so carefully, so coldly, deflected. And Shinyu, the leader, the responsible one, had refused to be deflected. His love had curdled, twisted into something sharp and demanding, a constant, silent pressure.
