The air in the practice room had grown thick, heavy with unspoken things. It clung to the sweat-slicked skin, to the worn floorboards, to the very silence that stretched between them. Hanjin felt it acutely, a suffocating blanket woven from the gazes that followed him, the smiles that didn’t quite reach the eyes. He’d spent years honing his craft, not just on stage, but in the shadowed corners of human interaction, learning to read the subtle shifts in posture, the flicker of an eyelid, the tremor in a voice. And now, those skills, once his greatest asset, felt like a cage.

Shinyu’s confession, weeks ago now, had been the first tremor. A polite, almost apologetic offering of something Hanjin had no use for. He’d deflected it with practiced ease, a cool smile and a firm, yet gentle, refusal. He’d expected a polite acceptance, a return to normalcy. Shinyu’s quiet intensity had morphed into something else, a simmering resentment that Hanjin felt like a palpable force whenever the leader was near.

Then came Dohoon. His was a different kind of confession, bolder, more demanding, laced with a confidence that Hanjin found almost amusing. And, like Shinyu, he’d been met with the same polite, unyielding wall. Dohoon, however, didn't retreat. Instead, his charismatic smile had begun to feel like a predator’s baring of teeth, his casual touches lingering a moment too long, his eyes holding a possessiveness that made Hanjin’s skin crawl.
