The air in the practice room, usually thick with the scent of sweat and ambition, felt heavy with a different kind of tension. Gyuvin’s movements were tight, his usual fluid grace marred by a subtle stiffness. He’d been feeling it for weeks, a prickle of unease that had grown into a dull ache behind his ribs. It started small, a fleeting glance Hanjin would cast when he thought no one was looking, a pause in his conversation when Kyungmin entered the room. Now, it was a persistent whisper, growing louder with each passing day.

He watched Hanjin now, across the polished floor, his back to Gyuvin. Hanjin was demonstrating a difficult choreography, his body a study in controlled elegance. But Gyuvin wasn’t seeing the flawless execution. He was seeing the way Hanjin’s shoulders seemed to relax, just a fraction, when Kyungmin offered a quiet word of encouragement from the sidelines. He was seeing the almost imperceptible softening of Hanjin’s usually impassive expression when Kyungmin’s hand brushed his arm in a casual gesture of camaraderie.

“Again,” Shinyu called out, his voice sharp with an edge that had become more frequent lately.
