Princess Aurelia, a creature of impeccable grace and a connoisseur of the perfectly timed, almost imperceptible sigh, found herself contemplating the very nature of sparkle. It seemed, to her refined sensibilities, to be in alarmingly short supply within the plush confines of her gilded cage. Her kingdom, a veritable tapestry of contented subjects and overflowing coffers, adored her. Her suitor list, a document of such prodigious length it required its own royal scribe and a dedicated filing cabinet, stretched longer than her most extravagant ceremonial train. Yet, despite this abundance of adoration and potential marital bliss, Aurelia yearned. She yearned for… well, for *something*. Anything, really, that wasn't quite so relentlessly, predictably perfect.

This pervasive dissatisfaction, a quiet hum beneath the veneer of royal decorum, manifested in increasingly absurd attempts to inject a modicum of excitement into her otherwise immaculate existence. She’d once, in a fit of pique fueled by a particularly bland state banquet, attempted to train a dragon. The results, predictably, involved singed tapestries and a rather startled royal chef. Then there was the incident where she’d decided the royal guard, a stoic phalanx of polished armour and unwavering discipline, was desperately in need of interpretive dance lessons. Captain Borin, bless his stern, bewildered soul, had nearly fainted from the sheer, unadulterated shock of it all.

It was during one such melancholic afternoon, while contemplating the existential dread of a perfectly ripe peach that promised nothing more than sweet, predictable juiciness, that a whirlwind of colour and cacophony descended upon the castle courtyard. A traveling jester, a man whose very being seemed to vibrate with a chaotic symphony of mishaps and infectious laughter, had arrived. His name, he’d declared with a flourish that sent a cascade of loose buttons flying, was Flicker.
