One afternoon, they found themselves in a small village renowned for its annual pumpkin festival. The air was thick with the sweet, earthy aroma of roasting gourds and the cheerful din of a lively folk band. Pip, spotting a particularly lopsided pumpkin, declared it the perfect candidate for a "carving competition." Aurelia, who had only ever known the sterile perfection of royal artisans, hesitated. Her hands, accustomed to the delicate embroidery of royal tapestries, felt clumsy and uncertain.
