Chapter 10
Flight into Darkness
Ophelia and her loyal friend Rohesia, desperate to escape the war-torn capital, flee into the treacherous Vladmor forest. Their flight is fraught with peril, the sounds of battle echoing in the distance. Their hope for sanctuary is shattered when they are ambushed. Ophelia nodded, her gaze sweeping over the sparsely furnished chamber that had been her prison for too long. It was a gilded cage, certainly, but a cage nonetheless. Now, the bars were dissolving, replaced by the gnawing uncertainty of survival. “The Vladmor forest,” she whispered, the name itself a chilling promise of danger. “It’s our only chance. My father always spoke of old hunting lodges, hidden deep within.”
