Chapter 17
The Path to Forgiveness
Elena offers Anya understanding and forgiveness. Anya, in turn, begins to forgive herself, releasing the burden she unknowingly carried.
Elena’s voice was a gentle balm, like sunshine on a spring morning, and Anya felt a tremor of release, a loosening in her chest that had been tight for as long as she could remember. “It’s… it’s hard to believe,” Anya whispered, her own voice catching. “That you’ve been waiting. Anya looked down at their hands, the contrast between her smooth skin and Elena’s lined one. She saw not just the years that had separated them, but the shared weight of those years. The map, unfurled between them, seemed to pulse with a quiet energy, a silent witness to their reunion. It had led her here, to this small, sun-drenched room filled with the scent of dried herbs and old paper. It had led her to Elena, and to the precipice of something profound.
