The worn armchair creaked a gentle rhythm as Anya settled into it, the teacup warming her hands. Across from her, Elena’s eyes, the colour of a stormy sea, held a depth of understanding that mirrored Anya’s own burgeoning emotions. The air in Elena’s cozy living room, usually filled with the scent of lavender and old books, now hummed with a different kind of energy – the fragile, tender unfolding of shared sorrow.
“I remember the rain,” Anya began, her voice a soft murmur, barely disturbing the quiet. “It was pouring that day. Like the sky itself was weeping.”
Elena nodded, a faint smile playing on her lips, a smile tinged with the bittersweet ache of remembrance. “And the thunder. It sounded like giants stomping on the clouds. You were always so afraid of the thunder.”
