The dew-kissed petals of the moonflower unfurled with a soft sigh, mirroring the tremor in Rose’s own chest. Magnolia, her silver hair woven with strands of starlight, sat beside her on a moss-covered stone, her gaze fixed on the shimmering veil that separated their realm from the mortal world. The air hummed with a potent, ancient magic, a symphony of rustling leaves and the distant murmur of unseen streams. Rose traced the intricate patterns on the locket that now rested against her skin, a constant, warm weight that anchored her to the mysteries unfolding around her.

“The veil between worlds,” Magnolia began, her voice like the gentle chime of tiny bells, “is not a barrier of stone, but of intent. It thins when the heart’s longing is strong, or when the threads of fate are tightly woven.” She looked at Rose, her eyes, the color of twilight, holding a universe of unspoken knowledge. “Your longing, child, has been a beacon.”

Rose nodded, her fingers tightening around the locket. The dreams, once fleeting and fragmented, had become more vivid, more insistent. Visions of a grand castle, of people with faces etched with fear and hope, of a woman with eyes like hers, radiating both strength and sorrow. And then, the chilling presence of another woman, her smile sharp as a shard of ice.
