A Glimpse of the Past
Rose discovers a hidden chamber or journal belonging to her mother, revealing more about Eleanor's life, her love for her kingdom, and the circumstances that led to her forced separation from Rose.
The air in the forgotten wing of the castle was thick with the scent of dust and memories. Rose, her heart a hummingbird trapped in her chest, traced the intricate carvings on a heavy oak door. Magnolia, her fairy guardian, stood a respectful distance away, her ethereal form shimmering faintly in the dim light filtering through a grimy window. “This place has been sealed for years,” Magnolia’s voice was a low murmur, like wind through ancient trees. “Lady Eleanor’s chambers, they say. Locked away after… after.” She trailed off, her gaze fixed on the ornate handle.
Rose felt a pull, a silent invitation from the room beyond. It was the same insistent tug she’d felt in her dreams, the same yearning that had led her to the locket, to the whispers of a life she couldn’t quite grasp. “She would have wanted me to see,” Rose said, her voice firm despite the tremor in her hands. “If I am to understand what happened, I need to understand her.”
Magnolia nodded, a flicker of something akin to approval in her ancient eyes. “The key… it rests with the one who knows all the castle’s secrets, though he may not know he holds it.” A knowing smile touched her lips. “Detective Fitch.”
