The air in Elder Maeve’s cabin was thick with the scent of dried herbs and something else, something ancient and potent that clung to the very timbers of the small dwelling. Dust motes danced in the slivers of light that pierced the gloom, illuminating shelves crammed with scrolls, brittle with age, and vials filled with liquids of indeterminate hue. Elara traced the faded script on the parchment spread before her, her fingers brushing against the rough, fibrous surface. The words, once a jumble of indecipherable symbols, were beginning to yield their secrets, coaxed by Maeve’s patient tutelage and Elara’s own desperate hunger for answers.

“The ‘True Luna’,” Maeve murmured, her voice like rustling leaves, her ancient eyes fixed on the same passage as Elara. “It is not a title of dominance, as many in the pack assume. It is a title of connection. A conduit.”

Elara’s breath hitched. Connection. That was a word that resonated deep within her, a word that had always felt like a phantom limb, a sense of something missing, something she should possess but didn't. The pack’s whispers had always centered on what she lacked: the keen senses, the primal howl, the effortless shift. Her so-called weaknesses. But these texts spoke of a different kind of strength, one that pulsed not from muscle and fang, but from the very celestial body that governed their lives.
