Sam, usually bouncing with an irrepressible energy, was unusually still, his gaze fixed on Melissa, a profound relief washing over his expressive face. And Noah, quiet as always, simply sat beside Melissa, his presence a silent, steady comfort.

“Is… is it gone?” Sam whispered, his voice raspy.

Leo nodded, his gaze sweeping the attic as if expecting the threat to reappear at any moment. “I think so. It felt… like it shrunk away.”
