Chapter 11
Sam's Impulsive Stand
Sam, ever loyal and energetic, wants to confront the danger head-on, ready to defend Melissa with all his might, sometimes without thinking.
The air in the treehouse, usually buzzing with the happy chatter of five children and the quiet presence of Melissa, had turned thick and heavy. Outside, the sky was a bruised purple, mirroring the unease that had settled over them. Leo, ever the leader, paced the worn wooden floorboards, his brow furrowed. Chloe was poring over a dog-eared book of local folklore, her lips moving silently as she searched for answers. And then there was Sam. Sam, who usually bounced with an irrepressible energy, was coiled tight like a spring. His eyes, usually bright with mischief, were narrowed, fixed on the same point as Noah’s. He was clenching and unclenching his fists, a battle raging within him between the urge to bolt and the even stronger, more primal instinct to protect.
"We can't just sit here!" Sam burst out, his voice cracking with a mixture of fear and fury. He jumped to his feet, his small frame vibrating with pent-up adrenaline. "It’s coming closer! Whatever it is, it wants Melissa!"
