Chapter 5
Alley Cat Alley

And we, her loyal toys, were going to find them.
Our journey had taken us from the comforting familiarity of Lily's bedroom, through the hushed hallways of the silent house, and now, out into the vast, unpredictable world beyond. The sun, a giant golden ball in the sky, felt a million miles away from the soft glow of Lily’s nightlight. This was a different kind of adventure, one that made my stuffing feel a little lighter, a little more exposed.
