Lily devises a clever plan to get the sugar cubes back. Using shiny objects and quick thinking, they must outsmart the distracted butterflies.

Lily tapped her chin, her brow furrowed in thought. The butterflies, a shimmering, fluttering cloud of pastel confusion, were proving to be quite the challenge. They’d zipped and zoomed through the meadow, their little wings catching the sunlight like a thousand tiny stained-glass windows, and with them, they’d carried the magical sugar cubes. Professor Hoot had explained, in his usual roundabout way, that the sugar cubes weren’t just sweet; they were the very essence of the teapot’s temporal zest. Without them, the grand time-traveling tea party would remain firmly stuck in the present, which, as Barnaby had pointed out with a sigh, was rather anti-climactic.

“They think they’re collecting dewdrops, bless their tiny, forgetful hearts,” Lily murmured, watching a particularly iridescent butterfly land on a daisy, only to flutter away a split second later, seemingly having forgotten why it had landed there at all.

Barnaby, perched on a toadstool nearby, wrung his little plush paws. “Dewdrops? But they’re cubes, Lily! And they sparkle like… well, like sugar cubes!” His voice, still a marvel to Lily, was laced with a hint of anxiety.
