The air hummed with the gentle clinking of teacups and the murmur of happy chatter. Lily, her cheeks flushed with delight, watched as Barnaby, now quite capable of holding his own in conversation, shared a particularly amusing anecdote with a badger in a tiny waistcoat. The sugar cubes, those magical little blocks of sparkly sweetness, had been returned, and the time-traveling teapot was in full swing. It wasn't just one tea party; it was a tea party that zipped and zoomed through time. One moment, they were nibbling on cucumber sandwiches under a sky dotted with Victorian hot air balloons, the next, they were sipping nectar from giant, glowing flowers in a prehistoric jungle.
Professor Hoot, perched regally on a teacup saucer, cleared his throat. "A truly magnificent spectacle," he hooted, adjusting his spectacles that had miraculously reappeared on his beak. "One might even say… time-bendingly delightful!" He chuckled at his own pun, a sound like dry leaves rustling.
Lily giggled. She’d learned so much in what felt like mere hours. She’d learned that even the wisest owl could misplace his eyewear, that a mischievous squirrel could be a loyal friend, and that butterflies, though forgetful, weren’t truly bad. They just… collected. Like Sly collected acorns, or she collected interesting pebbles from the garden.
