Anya Sharma’s office, usually a vibrant hub of strategic planning and infectious optimism, felt charged with a different kind of energy today. It was the quiet hum of anticipation, punctuated by the sharp clicks of her keyboard and the occasional sigh from Evelyn Reed, who sat opposite her, a blueprint spread across the small meeting table. The prototype, affectionately nicknamed ‘Phoenix’ for its ability to rise from its own warmth, was a marvel, a testament to Ben Carter’s tireless engineering. But a prototype, however brilliant, couldn’t pay the bills. And the bills, Anya knew, were piling up like unread emails.
“We’ve got the demo scheduled with Abernathy Industries next Tuesday,” Anya announced, her voice carefully modulated to project confidence, though a flicker of unease danced in her eyes. “He’s… cautious. That’s putting it mildly. He’s practically allergic to anything that smells remotely like a risk.”
Evelyn looked up, her brow furrowed. “He lost money on a green tech venture before, didn’t he? That’s what I overheard.”
