The air in the dimly lit bar vibrated with a forced cheerfulness, a stark contrast to the storm brewing within Eli. He’d stormed in, a defiant grin plastered on his face, and the T-shirt he wore, boldly emblazoned with "Claire's Husband," was a declaration of war. Bright’s eyes, already shadowed with exhaustion, widened in disbelief, then narrowed into a dangerous glare. The unspoken challenge hung heavy, and it didn’t take long for the first blow to land.

Fists flew, a chaotic ballet of anger and resentment. Eli, fuelled by a potent cocktail of jealousy and a desperate need to reclaim something lost, fought with a ferocity he hadn’t known he possessed. Bright, his own pain and frustration a burning ember, met him blow for blow. The clatter of glasses and the startled yelps of patrons were lost in the din of their escalating battle. Then, as if summoned by the sheer violence of their conflict, Conrad appeared, his usual jovial demeanor replaced with a grim determination. He stepped in, not to de-escalate, but to join the fray, his loyalty to his brother a palpable force.

Just as the fight threatened to spiral further into a free-for-all, a new presence entered the chaos. William, Claire’s older brother, stood framed in the doorway, his face a mask of thunder. The sheer intensity of his gaze, the silent authority radiating from him, brought the brawl to an abrupt halt. Every fist froze mid-swing, every angry shout died on a lip.
