Beside him, Lagertha meticulously sharpened her axe, the rhythmic rasp a counterpoint to the chirping of unseen birds. "What is it you truly seek, Ioneus?" Lagertha's voice, though soft, cut through the quiet. It was a question she had asked herself countless times, and now, in this nascent sanctuary, she directed it outward.
