Elara discovers a ritual that might stabilize the rift. They must gather rare components, leading them through perilous territories filled with mutated flora and fauna.
The air in Elara’s makeshift study, a repurposed section of the settlement’s old library, hummed with a frantic energy. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of sunlight that pierced the gloom, illuminating Kael’s anxious face as he watched the scholar pore over brittle, age-worn scrolls. Lyra, ever vigilant, stood with her hand resting on the hilt of her sword, her gaze sweeping the perimeter of the room as if expecting an attack even within these relatively safe confines. Kit, a silent monolith of muscle and earth, occupied a corner, her massive frame coiled like a spring, her senses attuned to the slightest disturbance.
Elara’s brow was furrowed in concentration, her fingers tracing the faded script with a delicacy that belied the urgency of their situation. For days, she had been immersed in the lore of the Sunmoner’s artifact, a task made all the more difficult by the fragmented nature of the texts and the sheer alienness of the concepts they described. But now, a spark of understanding, a nascent hope, flickered in her eyes.
“I believe,” she began, her voice a low murmur that nonetheless cut through the tension, “that I have found something. A ritual.”
