Dust devils danced across the scarred earth, carrying the acrid scent of ash and something far more unsettling—the rank odor of the encroaching horde. Kael stood at the edge of the plateau, the Sunmoner's artifact pulsing faintly against his chest, a warm ember of power in the encroaching chill. Below, stretching as far as the eye could see, was a sea of monstrous forms, a living tide of chitin, fang, and claw, all drawn to the volatile energy of the rift.

Beside him, Lyra’s hand rested on the hilt of her ancestral blade, her gaze fixed on the enemy. Her armor, once gleaming, was now scuffed and dented from countless battles, a testament to her unwavering courage. Yet, even in her stoic demeanor, Kael could sense a tremor of apprehension. This was it. The culmination of everything.

“They are more numerous than the sands of the Crimson Desert,” she murmured, her voice low and steady, a stark contrast to the thrumming anxiety in Kael’s own gut.
