Whispering Critters

Tiny, bioluminescent insects flit around them, their wings creating faint melodies. Some are harmless, others emit a strange, sweet scent that makes them drowsy.

The air in the Crystal Cave grew warmer, thick with the scent of damp earth and something else, something sweet and alluring. Mina, ever the cautious one, kept her hand on Jolley’s shoulder, her eyes scanning the shimmering walls. Jolley, however, was mesmerized. Tiny specks of light, like fallen stars, danced around them, their wings beating with a sound that was almost music.

"Mina, look!" Jolley whispered, pointing a trembling finger. "They're like little fireflies, but they sparkle!"

Indeed, the air was alive with a multitude of minuscule creatures. They were insects, unlike any they had ever seen. Their bodies glowed with a soft, internal light, ranging from pale blue to vibrant emerald. As they flitted past, their delicate wings brushed against the air, creating faint, ethereal melodies that filled the cavern. Some hummed a low, soothing note, while others chirped a higher, playful tune.
