The Sleepy Giant

They encounter a colossal lizard, its body made of shimmering crystal. It snores softly, its immense size a daunting obstacle. They must pass without waking it.

The air in the cave grew heavy, not with the damp chill of the earth, but with a strange, resonant warmth that seemed to vibrate through their very bones. Mina and Jolley, their footsteps now hushed on the crystalline floor, found themselves in a cavern so vast it swallowed the light from their little lantern, leaving them in a twilight of their own making. The walls, once a tapestry of glittering moss and peculiar fungi, now pulsed with a softer, internal luminescence, casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on their eyes.

“Mina, do you hear that?” Jolley whispered, her voice barely a breath.

Mina strained her ears. It was a sound like a distant wind chime, a gentle, rhythmic humming that seemed to emanate from the very heart of the cavern. It was soothing, almost hypnotic, and for a moment, the lingering fear from the scurrying, many-legged creatures of the previous passage ebbed away.
