Stepping inside, the cave walls sparkle with embedded crystals. The air is cool and still. Jolley clutches Mina's hand, her initial excitement tempered by the unknown.

The velvety darkness swallowed them whole, but it wasn’t a complete void. As Mina’s eyes adjusted, she gasped, a soft sound that echoed strangely in the sudden quiet. The walls of the cave weren’t just stone; they were a tapestry woven from a thousand glittering threads. Crystals, of every imaginable hue and size, sprouted from the rock, catching the faint light from the entrance and scattering it in a dazzling, kaleidoscopic display. Blues like a twilight sky, greens like a summer meadow, reds like a desert sunset, and purples like the deepest amethyst – they shimmered and pulsed, making the very air seem alive with a gentle, internal luminescence.

Jolley’s breath hitched, her small hand tightening around Mina’s like a vise. Her initial burst of excitement, the giddy thrill of adventure that had propelled them to the cave’s mouth, had begun to ebb, replaced by a prickle of unease. The cave was *long*. The legend had said so, and now, standing on the precipice of its glittering maw, the sheer immensity of it felt daunting. The air, so warm and alive outside, was cool and still here, carrying a faint, earthy scent mingled with something sweet, like damp moss and distant flowers.

“Wow,” Mina breathed, her skepticism momentarily forgotten, replaced by a sense of awe. This was unlike anything she had ever imagined. She squeezed Jolley’s hand reassuringly. “It’s… beautiful, isn’t it?”
