The Singing Crystals

The air in the cave grew heavy, not with the damp chill of the earth, but with a kind of expectant silence. Mina and Jolley, their footsteps muffled by the soft, crystalline dust underfoot, pressed onward. They had passed the slumbering behemoth of the crystal lizard, its slow, rhythmic breathing a low rumble in the cavern, and navigated the unnerving reflections of the mirror maze. Now, a new wonder unfolded before them.

It began subtly, a faint hum that seemed to vibrate not just in the air, but deep within their bones. Jolley, ever attuned to the world’s smallest melodies, tilted her head. "Mina, do you hear that?"

Mina paused, straining her ears. At first, it was no more than a whisper, a breath of sound. But as they moved deeper, the whisper grew, weaving itself into a gentle chorus. It was the crystals. They were singing.
