Chapter 13
A Glimmer of Hope
Mina notices a unique pattern on the cave wall, a symbol similar to one Grandma often drew. It points towards a specific, less obvious passage.

Mina’s heart thumped a frantic rhythm against her ribs, a drumbeat against the oppressive silence. Jolley, usually a chatterbox of endless questions, clung to Mina’s hand, her small fingers surprisingly strong. She glanced at Jolley, whose eyes, wide and dark in the dim light, reflected the faint sparkle of the cave walls. Jolley was trying to be brave, Mina knew, but the slight tremor in her hand, the way she squeezed Mina’s fingers a little tighter with each strange sound, told a different story.
“Are we… are we lost, Mina?” Jolley’s voice was a tiny whisper, swallowed by the immensity of the cavern.
