Chapter 2: Dancing Through Challenges
My doctor always says, "Jazz, you need to take it easy." And sometimes, I do. My body is a little different because of Turner syndrome, but that doesn't stop me from doing the things I love! And guess what? The things I love most are dancing and learning new things. They make my heart sing and my feet want to tap-tap-tap!
One of my favorite things is when Mom puts on some music. It doesn't matter if it's bouncy and loud or slow and dreamy. My feet just start to move. I love to twirl and leap, pretending I'm a sparkling princess in a beautiful gown, or a superhero saving the day with my amazing dance moves. Sometimes Jalen joins me, and we’re like a whirlwind of giggles and flying pigtails. We even dress alike sometimes, and people can’t tell us apart! Mom says we look like twins, and that makes me giggle. Jalen is six, and I’m eight, but we’re the leaders of our own little dance troop.
Even with my Turner syndrome, I can run! I can chase after Jalen in the backyard, my legs pumping like little pistons. I can play tag with my brothers, though sometimes they're a *lot* faster than me. And I can definitely dance! My doctor might say "take it easy," but when the music starts, my spirit says, "Let's go!" It’s like my body remembers how to be strong and joyful, even when some parts of it are a little bit tricky. It’s that spark, that little bit of magic that God puts inside us, you know?
School is another one of my favorite places. I love learning! I love the smell of new crayons and the feel of the crinkly paper in my notebooks. I love when my teacher, Mrs. Gable
