Chapter 17
Pirates' Lint Collection Day
The lint pirates continue their bizarre quest, happily sorting their latest lint hauls. Their obsession remains, a quirky footnote in space history.
The aroma of stale space socks and forgotten asteroid fuzz hung heavy in the air of the Lint Pirates' lair. It wasn't exactly a pungent odor, more of a… fuzzy one. Captain Fluffernutter, a being whose entire body seemed to be composed of meticulously layered grey lint, hummed a tuneless ditty as he carefully sorted a particularly fluffy clump of what he suspected was once a nebula’s favorite scarf. Beside him, his first mate, a creature resembling a sentient dust bunny with an eyepatch made of interwoven thread, meticulously cataloged a handful of shimmering filaments.

Snuggleworth, without looking up, let out a series of soft squeaks that Astra, if she were present, would have interpreted as agreement. Their current mission, if one could call it that, was to intercept any passing spacecraft that looked likely to be shedding valuable lint. It was a surprisingly lucrative, if peculiar, occupation. Most of the galaxy was too busy with wars, trade, and discovering new forms of edible space goo to pay much attention to the finer points of airborne fibers.
