Chapter 16
The Comet's New Hobby
The mischievous comet, having learned a valuable lesson, finds a new, less destructive hobby: collecting cosmic dust bunnies, which it finds much more satisfying.
The Mischievous Comet, no longer quite so mischievous, found itself in a bit of a pickle. Or rather, a cosmic nebula of sorts. It had dropped the starlight, all of it, with a rather undignified splutter. Princess Astra, with her cosmic kazoo still gleaming faintly from its heroic performance, had zoomed back to her kingdom, leaving the comet to contemplate its life choices. And frankly, life choices were rather dull when you didn’t have a whole kingdom’s worth of glitter to abscond with.
It drifted aimlessly, a celestial body with a serious case of post-heist blues. The thrill was gone. The adrenaline had faded. All that remained was the faint, lingering echo of a cosmic kazoo’s ticklish melody and a profound sense of ennui. It tried to recapture the magic, nudging a stray asteroid here and there, but it just wasn’t the same. Asteroids were so… stony. They lacked sparkle. They certainly didn’t shimmer with the incandescent delight of stolen starlight.
Then, as it was lazily spinning through a particularly dusty sector, it saw it. A clump of… *stuff*. It was grey and fluffy and clung to the tail of a passing gas giant like a lost sock. Intrigued, the comet nudged closer. It was… lint. Cosmic lint, to be precise. It had a certain texture, a certain *je ne sais quoi* that was surprisingly appealing. It wasn’t as dazzling as starlight, of course, but it had a quiet charm. A comforting fluffiness.
