Astra is no longer bored. She realizes her adventurous spirit and unique talents are valuable, even if they involve cosmic kazoos and grumpy aliens.
Princess Astra, her cosmic kazoo tucked safely in her boot, surveyed her kingdom. It wasn’t the same kingdom she’d left, a place of endless dust-polishing and droning pronouncements. This kingdom shimmered, vibrated with a renewed, almost giddy, brilliance. The starlight, once a predictable, if beautiful, glow, now pulsed with a lively energy, as if it had just heard the galaxy’s funniest joke. And in a way, it had.
She’d expected to return to the familiar monotony, to the hushed reverence of the royal court, to the ever-present scent of celestial polish. But something had shifted. The endless, soul-crushing boredom that had once clung to her like a stubborn nebula had evaporated. It had been replaced by a fizzing, effervescent feeling, a sense of purpose that hummed in her very bones. She was no longer just Princess Astra, the one destined to inherit a throne and a mountain of paperwork. She was Astra, the Starlight Saver, the Cosmic Kazoo Virtuoso.
“Still staring at the glow, Your Royal Highness?” Gleep’s voice, a gravelly rumble that had miraculously softened from outright hostility to a sort of affectionate grumbling, broke through her reverie. He was perpetually tinkering with something, his multi-jointed arms a blur of motion as he tightened a bolt on a nearby starlight conduit.
