The air in the ancient library hung thick with the scent of aged parchment and dried herbs, a comforting balm after the damp chill of the Sunken City. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of moonlight that pierced the gloom, illuminating the hushed reverence of the space. Kaelen sat cross-legged on the worn rug, his gaze fixed on Elara. She stood by a tall, unbound scroll, her fingers tracing symbols that seemed to shift and writhe in the dim light. Borin, ever watchful, leaned against a towering bookshelf, his arms crossed, a silent sentinel.

Elara had led them here, to this forgotten repository of knowledge, with a quiet urgency that Kaelen couldn't quite decipher. It wasn’t the same urgency that had propelled them through the Sunken City, a desperate flight from peril. This was a deeper, more profound kind of urgency, born of a long-held burden.

“You mentioned a past,” Kaelen began, his voice barely a whisper, afraid to break the fragile stillness. “A… previous Starfall.”
