The air in the cavern grew heavy, not with the usual damp chill of earth and stone, but with a prickling, almost electric tension. Kaelen shivered, though the embers of their small fire still cast a comforting warmth. It was a different kind of cold, one that seeped into the bones and whispered doubts into the quiet recesses of the mind. Elara, her brow furrowed, had been staring into the flickering flames for the better part of an hour, her usual placid demeanor replaced by a deep, unsettling unease.

"It's… stirring," she murmured, her voice barely a breath. "The darkness. It feels closer than ever."

Borin, who had been meticulously sharpening his axe by the firelight, grunted, his movements pausing. He looked up, his gaze sweeping across the cavern’s shadowed corners. "Stirring? What are you babbling about, mage? Just the wind outside, I reckon. Always makes a racket when it blows through these hills."
