The air in Elias’s small, cluttered study hummed with a different kind of energy now. It wasn’t just the scent of old paper and dried herbs that clung to the room; it was the weight of untold stories, of secrets whispered in the dark. I sat across from him, the star sticker a faint warmth on my forehead, the visions it had conjured still flickering at the edges of my mind. He had spoken of the organization, of their relentless pursuit, but this… this felt bigger. Deeper.
“They call themselves ‘The Architects’,” Elias began, his voice low, a rumble against the silence. He gestured with a hand gnarled like an ancient root. “Not a name they broadcast, of course. To the world, they are nothing. A whisper. But to us… to those like you and me, Anya, they are the shadow that swallows the light.”
I leaned forward, my heart thudding a nervous rhythm against my ribs. “The stickers… where do they come from?”
