A New Beginning
With the organization's threat diminished, Anya and her allies look towards a future where those with gifts can live freely.
The dust motes danced in the sunbeams slanting through the tall library windows, each speck a tiny universe unto itself, much like the lives we’d all lived before. But now, the universes were colliding, merging, and creating something entirely new. Elias, his usually furrowed brow smoothed into an expression of quiet contentment, was carefully shelving a worn leather-bound volume. The scent of old paper and something faintly herbal – his usual aroma – filled the air, a comforting presence. Across the polished oak table, Flicker, her bright eyes still a little too wide with the lingering thrill of our recent victory, was attempting to balance a stack of books on her nose. They wobbled precariously.
“Careful, Flicker,” I murmured, a smile playing on my lips. “Those are ancient texts on celestial navigation. You wouldn’t want to accidentally send them spiraling into another dimension.”
She giggled, the sound like wind chimes. “But Anya, what if I *could*? Imagine! A whole new library, just for us!” Her fingers, nimble and quick, twitched as if ready to perform the very feat she described.
