Lumina’s bloom was a quiet thing at first, like the first blush of dawn spreading across a pale sky. Elina watched it unfold with a gentle smile, her heart humming a happy tune. It had been a few days since their shared ascent from the Spiral, and Lumina, once a creature of muted grays and shy glances, was beginning to shimmer with a soft, inner light. The drained colors that had clung to them like a shroud were slowly, tentatively, returning, not in the wild, overwhelming bursts that Elina had seen on the stairs, but in delicate, warm hues that seemed to emanate from their very being.

They were in the sun-dappled town square, where the scent of freshly baked bread mingled with the cheerful buzz of conversation. Children chased iridescent butterflies, their laughter like wind chimes, and the elder folk sat on benches, their faces etched with wisdom and contentment. Elina had brought Lumina here, not to push, but simply to be. To let the everyday warmth of their community seep into Lumina’s newly awakened spirit.

Lumina, still a little hesitant, kept close to Elina’s side, their eyes wide as they absorbed the vibrant tapestry of life around them. They pointed a trembling finger towards a stall where a baker was decorating cakes with swirls of candied fruit, each a miniature jewel of red, orange, and yellow. “Those colors,” Lumina whispered, their voice still a soft breeze, but now with a nascent strength, “they’re so… real.”
