The great sleep of Xylos had been a fevered one. For generations, the planet had baked, its surface a cracked and parched testament to the sun’s relentless, unforgiving gaze. Life clung to the deepest canyons, to the shadowed underbellies of ancient, petrified forests, a desperate, wilting existence. The sky, once a canvas of vibrant blues and swirling nebulae, had become a blinding, white glare, a constant reminder of their impending doom.

Then, the Whispers began. Not sounds, not exactly, but a resonance, a vibration that seeped into the very marrow of their bones. It spoke of change, of a celestial ballet orchestrated by hands unseen, of a solution forged in the void. The people of Xylos, their bodies thin and their spirits weary, looked to the sky with a flicker of something long dormant: hope.

Elara, her skin like sun-scorched parchment, was the first to truly witness the shift. She had been tending to the meager hydroponic gardens in the deepest cavern, the air thick with the recycled breath of a dying world. A tremor, unlike any earthquake, ran through the rock. Then, a new light, soft and pearlescent, began to bleed through the thick mineral crust that shielded their subterranean city.
