The hum of the servers was a low thrum against Aris’s skull, a constant reminder of the invisible forces he was trying to understand. He traced a finger across the glowing screen, the seismic readings a jagged, unsettling landscape. “It’s not just one anomaly, is it, Lena?” he murmured, his voice tight.

Lena, perched on a stool beside him, adjusted her glasses, her brow furrowed. “No, Aris. It’s a symphony of them. Look at this. The micro-tremors around the Wichita Mountains. They’re increasing in frequency and intensity. And they’re not random. They’re following a pattern, something… deliberate.”

Across the small, cluttered office, Ben, usually the picture of laid-back calm, was hunched over a different monitor, his fingers flying across the keyboard. His face was illuminated by the stark blue light, his expression grim. “The gas signatures are even more pronounced,” he announced, his voice strained. “We’re seeing elevated levels of helium-3 and sulfur dioxide across a wider radius than we initially thought. It’s migrating, Aris. Like it’s trying to find a way out.”
