  • A Second Chance in Starlight

Second Chance LoveΒ· Family Drama Β· Competing Loyalties He disappeared after that summer without a word β€” no goodbye, no explanation, just silence. She spent five years turning grief into armor and built a career, a reputation, and a carefully controlled life on top of it. Now their families have arranged their marriage and she has no clean way out without destroying both households. She agrees, tells herself it's temporary, and moves into his home on the military base prepared to hate him quietly and efficiently. What she is not prepared for: he has no memory of the summer they shared. Not selective amnesia. Not a lie. A classified operation three years ago took fourteen months of his memory and the military has sealed every record of what happened during that time. She is living with a man who looks at her like a stranger β€” a stranger he is nonetheless drawn to in ways he cannot explain β€” while she is living with the full weight of everything they were. The longer she stays, the more fragments surface in him. And the more that surfaces, the clearer it becomes that whatever that classified operation erased wasn't just his memories of her. Someone removed those fourteen months because of what he saw. People with significant power need those months to stay gone. And now that he is starting to remember, she is the only witness to who he was before β€” which makes her the most dangerous person on that base. Can she protect a man who doesn't remember he once chose her, while outrunning the people who need him to stay forgotten? Will their secrets and past kill their bond, or will it save what once was the perfect summer romance.

  • Beneath the Savage Hide

The Story at a Glance The Beast A powerful person cursed into a bestial form β€” with a history, a fury, and a specific reason the curse was able to take hold. The Tamer A woman who recognized the person inside the beast before the curse fully unwound β€” and whose recognition began the unwinding The Bond Formed during the curse's unraveling β€” she falls for who he is before she knows what he looks like. The Conflict The enemy who sent him. The courts who fear what a broken curse means for the power hierarchy. His own fury at what was done to him. The Heart Being recognized β€” seen as a person, not a creature β€” for the first time in years. THE PREMISE: WRITE YOUR STORY LIKE THIS The courts of the magical world have maintained an uneasy peace for a generation through the Cursed Beast Doctrine, the practice of transforming powerful individuals into bestial weapons and deploying them against enemies as an act of war that maintains plausible deniability. The beast was never a person, officially. No court is responsible for its actions. Her enemy house has sent her the most powerful Cursed Beast in their arsenal. It arrives in the night. It finds her. She is alone. She does not run. She looks at the creature with the specific attention of someone who has spent years learning to read what lies beneath the surface of dangerous things. In the way it moves and the way it watches her, she sees something that cannot be only animal. She speaks to it. Not commands. Not pleas. She speaks to it like a person. The curse cracks. Just slightly. Just enough for both of them to feel it. He, because it is a he and she understands that now, goes very still. And then, instead of delivering the killing blow, he stays. Where is your protagonist trapped? Politically isolated Her house is under siege. She has few allies and fewer resources. The Cursed Beast was sent because her enemy believed she would have no way to counter it. Legally compromised If the courts discover she has broken a Cursed Beast's binding, interfered with another house's sanctioned weapon β€” she is in violation of the Doctrine she was supposed to be protected by. Emotionally entangled She did not plan to care about what was inside the curse. The caring arrived before she could prevent it, in the weeks of the curse's slow unwinding, when he was learning to speak again. What threatens to destroy them? The Enemy House's Second Weapon When they discover the first beast did not complete its mission, they escalate. But they also send someone to investigate why it failed and that person is more dangerous than any beast. The Courts' Attention The magical courts cannot ignore a Cursed Beast walking free. They will send enforcers. The Doctrine must be maintained. What she has done is unprecedented and cannot be allowed to become precedent. His Own Fury He has been imprisoned in a beast form for years by a house that used him and discarded him. His anger at what was done to him is legitimate and enormous. Learning to direct it without burning down everything she has built is the work of the middle of the story. Who enters to support or challenge them? The Enemy's Investigator. Sent to understand why the beast failed its mission. Who discovers the broken curse and whose own complicated history with the Cursed Beast Doctrine makes their next move uncertain. The Court Enforcer Who believes in the Doctrine but has never personally faced a broken curse...a living, speaking person who was supposed to be a weapon. The humanity of the situation is something they are not trained for. His Former Ally Someone who knew him before the curse, who thought him dead, or worse and whose arrival forces him to reckon with who he was before he was made into a beast, and whether that person still exists. Her Household Who witnessed what she did and are trying to protect her from its consequences, while also being genuinely afraid of the being she has brought into their home.
