The Escape Route
With the presence momentarily weakened, they find a hidden emergency exit. A frantic race against time ensues, pursued by the facility's lingering rage.
The air in the central chamber was thick, heavy with the residue of our confrontation. The Presence, or whatever it was, had recoiled, a guttural scream echoing through the cavernous space before fading into a silence that felt even more unnerving than its rage. Liam, his breath ragged, clutched Chloe’s arm, his knuckles white. Chloe, though pale, was already scanning the walls, her eyes darting from one metallic panel to another. I felt a tremor run through me, a mixture of relief and a chilling premonition that this was far from over.
"It's... gone?" Liam whispered, his voice cracking.
"For now," Chloe replied, her gaze fixed on a section of the wall that seemed slightly out of place. "But I don't think it's happy."
