The rumble of the modified bus was a lullaby of anticipation, a low thrumming beneath the excited chatter of Silas’s flock. We were finally on our way, a pilgrimage to the edge, a quest that had consumed my every waking thought for months. Sunlight, thick and golden, streamed through the grimy windows, illuminating dust motes dancing like tiny constellations in the air. Beside me, Maya squeezed my arm, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and nerves. “Can you believe it, Gracie?” she whispered, her voice barely audible above the engine’s song. “We’re actually doing it.”

I nodded, a thrill coursing through me that was almost too much to bear. The bus, a hulking beast of worn metal and patched upholstery, was crammed with believers. Faces, young and old, were alight with the same fervent conviction that had drawn me in. They were the seekers, the ones who dared to question the accepted narrative, the ones who saw the same impossible horizons that I did. Silas, perched on a makeshift platform at the front, was a whirlwind of energy, his voice booming with an infectious zeal. He spoke of the cosmos, of the grand deception, and of the coming revelation, his words painting vivid pictures of a world hidden just beyond our perception.

“They tell us the Earth is a spinning ball,” he declared, his voice echoing through the cramped space. “They feed us lies wrapped in science, while the truth lies before our very eyes! Look at the horizon, my friends! Does it curve? Does it recede as you approach? No! It remains constant, a perfect line against the sky, shifting only when the veil is lifted!”
