The air in the village square, once alive with the buoyant hum of shared joy, now felt heavy, thick with an unspoken grief. Lyra walked through it, her heart a tight knot in her chest. The Starfall’s light, which had always been a cascade of pure, invigorating magic, was now a sickly, bruised purple, casting long, distorted shadows that seemed to writhe with a life of their own.
