The air in Lyra’s small cottage felt thick, heavy with unspoken anxieties that clung to the worn wooden beams like cobwebs. Outside, the usual joyous hum of the village had been replaced by a hushed, mournful murmur, a symphony of sighs and choked sobs that seemed to emanate from the very stones of their homes. Lyra sat by the hearth, the dying embers mirroring the flicker of hope in her own heart. Her gaze was fixed on the worn, leather-bound book resting on her lap, its pages filled with the faded ink of generations past. The Starfall, once a celestial celebration of life and light, had become a harbinger of sorrow, each shimmering shard now a shard of broken dreams.
