The weight of the village's sorrow pressed down on Lyra, a physical ache in her chest that mirrored the dull throb of the corrupted Starfall. Each passing day was a descent into a deeper shade of grey, the once vibrant laughter now replaced by hushed whispers and averted gazes. The joy that had once bloomed with the celestial tears was now a withered memory, leaving behind only the bitter taste of regret. She knew, with a certainty that settled deep in her bones, that this was not a natural sorrow, but something far more insidious.
She sought out Elder Elara, her father’s most trusted confidante, a woman whose wisdom was as renowned as the ancient oak at the village center. Elara’s dwelling, nestled at the edge of the forest, was a sanctuary of quiet contemplation, filled with the scent of dried herbs and the soft glow of lamplight. Lyra found her tending to a small, withered sapling, her brow furrowed with a familiar concern.
“Elder Elara,” Lyra began, her voice trembling slightly, “I need to speak with you. About the Starfall.”
