Chapter 17
Banishment
The shadowy entity recoils from the pure light, its form dissolving. With a final, desperate cry, it is banished, its parasitic hold over the Starfall broken.
The final surge of light, a torrent of pure, untainted Starfall energy, struck the shadowy entity with the force of a celestial hammer. It shrieked, a sound that clawed at the very fabric of reality, a discordant symphony of a thousand shattered dreams. Lyra, her arms outstretched, felt the power coursing through her, a vibrant river of hope and resilience that had once flowed through her village, only to be twisted and poisoned. Now, it was hers to wield, a beacon against the encroaching darkness.
The entity, a swirling vortex of despair and fear, writhed under the onslaught. Its amorphous form, once so solid in its malevolence, began to fray at the edges, like smoke caught in a gale. Tendrils of shadow, thick with the sorrow of countless broken hearts, recoiled from the cleansing radiance, hissing and dissolving into nothingness. Lyra saw, for a fleeting moment, the spectral faces of those who had suffered, their anguish amplified by the corrupted Starfall, now receding, their torment eased by the returning light.
Kael stood beside her, his hand resting lightly on her shoulder, a silent anchor in the storm of power. He watched, his eyes wide with a mixture of awe and relief, as the entity’s grip on the Starfall loosened. The once-vibrant celestial cascade, which had been dimmed and muddied by the entity’s influence, began to shimmer anew, its true, radiant hues returning, painting the night sky with colours unseen for generations.
