Kael confronts Bron, seeking to prove his superiority. A brutal spar ensues, revealing Kael's desperation and a shared enemy, the Shadow Weaver.
The air in the training courtyard crackled, not with the usual hum of focused energy that accompanied Bron’s solitary practice, but with a raw, untamed tension. Kael stood opposite him, a coiled spring of ambition and barely suppressed hostility. His dark eyes, usually alight with a competitive gleam, now held a dangerous intensity, a reflection of the shadows that had begun to creep into the edges of their world.
“So, the heir to the balance keepers,” Kael’s voice was a low drawl, laced with an arrogance that Bron had grown accustomed to, yet tonight it felt sharper, more pointed. “Still playing with shadows and light, Bron? Still clinging to the old ways while the world burns?”
Bron lowered his sword, the crimson seal on its hilt pulsing faintly, a silent testament to the burden he carried. He met Kael’s gaze, his own resolve hardening. “The old ways have kept this balance for generations, Kael. They are not to be discarded lightly.”
