The humid air, thick with the scent of decay and something metallic, pressed in on me. My wrists burned, the rough hemp biting into my skin as I strained against the ropes. Around me, the cavern dripped with an unnerving rhythm, each drop echoing the frantic beat of my own heart. This was it. The end of the line, or so it seemed. Silas Vane stood before me, bathed in the flickering torchlight, his smile a predatory glint in the gloom. Behind him, a dozen Obsidian Hand brutes, their faces masked by shadows, formed an impassive wall.

"Blake," Vane’s voice was a silken rasp, devoid of any warmth. "Always so… predictable. Always chasing the next glittering prize, never truly understanding the cost."

I spat on the damp stone floor. "And you, Vane? Always lurking in the shadows, waiting to snatch what others find. What’s your game? Power? Control? The same old song and dance."
